Oh this beautiful book - definitely my comfort read, with so many themes that really make you think about the bigger picture of life, especially when you are focused on its stresses. It made my heart ache from sadness, love, and forgiveness all intertwined and I just could not put it down.
The story follows the life and death of Eddie, who is killed in an amusement par accident and sent to heaven, where he meets five people who each have an important lesson to teach.
Mitch Albom delves into how lives are interconnected, our impact on others, sacrifice, regret, forgiveness, aging, love, an our purpose. It's a treasure trove of life lessons, moving quotes, and new perspectives. I would recommend over and over to anyone I meet but it is especially perfect for those doing some soul searching.
My takes: Life is worth living to the absolute fullest, feelings are for FEELING - not numbing or bottling up, always be you, do those things you want to do so you don't have to ask yourself "what if?", fight for the things and people you love, and don't get annoyed at the prospect of compromise and sacrifice - it's a vital part of life, love, and the human experience as a whole.
